Clean & Jerk (90% 1RM): 1-1-1-1-1
Then,
"Barbara":
5 rounds each for time:
20 pull-ups
30 push-ups
40 sit-ups
50 squats
Rest exactly 3 minutes between rounds.
A few notes:
My training is going to be a little different this week as I have the CrossFit Houston Challenge competition this Saturday. Today will be the only day with specific strength work this week. Tuesday and Wednesday will be WODs that step outside of my current program so as to avoid any lasting soreness for Saturday. Thursday and Friday will be rest days with stretching and walks to stay loose.

Holy Schnikes! I forgot how brutal "Barbara" is!
ReplyDeleteI decided to do "Barbara" first thinking that would be a good warm-up for the clean & jerks. Yeah. Bonehead move. Anyway, I still have miles to go on my staying power. As my five rounds indicate, I fall off rather quickly and dramatically.

*I had a technical problem with my new stopwatch and didn't get an accurate time on my last 3 minutes rest. I made a honest best guess and I feel I probably erred on the safe side that I got a little less than the full 3 minutes.
Next was the 90% clean and jerks. Boy did I underestimate what "Barbara" would do to me. I seriously considered skipping the strength work today but decided to tough it out. My weights are a little low due to my legs being jello, but I digress...

Nice work beast!! Ill be doing Barbara on Sunday so well see how I stack up.
ReplyDeleteNice friggen pic by the way!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Karen snapped that pic during one of my 205# clean and jerks from yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI did the exact same workout last night. I hate "barbara" with a passion. I made a Big mistake doing it before cling and jerk also. I only put up 135lbs. I kept my form really good and did rice paddy squats instead of regular squats. Unfortunaely my arms were trashed, I did the last couple of sets without feeling anything. I'll post times when I get home. I really want to work on pushing these longer metcons. I feel pretty confident on the shorter ones but I feel like I hit a hard wall with the longer one. I don't understand, I can spare full contact for an hours straight with only minimal rest against multiple opponents, but barbara kicks my ass. I think its a pacing problem. Probably doesn't help I took shanes advice and have cut out about 95% of the carbs during the week. Its working I've already dropped 10 lbs since vegas, I just feel lethargic as hell.
